Knew Bill from elementary school through MacArthur; always will consider him 'one of the good guys'. It would require multiples in gigabytes scanning compressed memories in an effort to recall one moment defined as mean spirited. Bill was a guy's guy. Could he be influenced by rowdy friends? Sure, but don’t teenage boys often succumb to influence of other teenage boys…they’re teens. However, I believe his memory holds up as an honorable, gentle soul. Wish you were still among us, Bill MacLeay. Your life ended far too soon.

I remember Billy Maclay from church, we both attended Saint Andrews Methodist Church. I met his dad and his younger brother through church and athletic events and things like that. Billy was always a calm, collected, knowledgeable and capable. Like Bonnie said, a guys guy and a gentleman.

I remember in junior high at Garner, this was eight grade lunch I think. Bill, with his ever present stack of text books, and John Horgan were standing on the gym steps and some guy was harassing Bill, saying he was going to kick his ass, etc. Bill said OK, you and I get coach and put on the gloves and then we will go at it. The guy keeps at it and Bill kept saying OK right now let's get coach, lets go. Horgan and I just watching as I recall. I guess the guy lost his nerve. After the bell rang i had to go to class and that's the last I heard of it. Maybe John Horgan can elaborate.  Bill MacLeay, my friend, you are missed.

"Billy Mac," the only guy I ever knew who did not use his locker- he carried everything with him to every class!  Too many memories to share about Bill and his fabulous family; I will always remember him as the perfect guy trying to get along in an imperfect world.

The Billy Mac we knew always strived to do the best in whatever he did...studies, athletics, teaching, coaching.  He was the guy we could always look to ....to do the right thing even when others were doing wrong.  He wasn't the best in any one thing, but he was better in everything than we were in our individual fields.  He was always at the top of the field he competed in.  I remember going over to his house to play roundball.  We played pickup football at Mac on the weekends. He wore high top cleats.  I think we called him twinkle toes. His parents welcomed us into their home like we were their own...Larry S., Derek L., Hoop, myself and all the rest.  Always the coach helping anyone who needed help and asked for it to get us to the next level.  Very unselfish.  Can't say enough about Billy Mac.

Bill MacLeay, "Billy Mac", my best man, a dear friend.  Bill and I met back in elementary school, became good friends, played football, baseball, and basketball together all through little league and high school.  There are untold stories and wonderful memories that I will always remember.  He always gave 100% at whatever he did, sought perfection in everything.  Always wanted to be on his team, especially in math and physics.  Miss you.
